Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. Half-hour sessions are available for $40.
Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating. Hot Stone Therapy also tends to take a bit longer than a traditional, relaxation massage so plan for up to 90 minutes of total relaxation!
Rehabilitative Sports Massage is wonderful for athletes who tend to overextend themselves, who are recovering from a sports injury, in conjunction with Physical Therapy, or simply for gym members who love their fitness classes and just need a little pampering for those achy muscles. Sports massage is also a fantastic way for an entire team to prepare their muscles for activity and to cool muscles down after an event to prevent injury. It is more rigorous, shorter term, and focuses on specific areas.
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Base Pricing for Doula services is $450. This includes a free, in-home consultation at about 30 weeks, written birth-plan, 3 home visits during pregnancy, and full support during labor & delivery. Packages can be customized to include additional home visits, various support services (pre-natal & post-partum), pre-natal massage, child-birth classes, and/or birth balls, wraps & other birth accessories. A $200 deposit is required upon retaining services, and the balance due at 36 weeks. Easy payment plans are available for your convenience, and some insurance companies may pay for your Doula or may have a special wellness program that offers discounts for this type of service!
